Abstract: THE ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE IN EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION

Objective: This study aims to (1) investigate the influence of organizational culture on employee motivation, (2) identify cultural elements that most significantly impact motivation, and (3) evaluate the role of organizational culture in enhancing employee engagement and performance.

Research Design: A survey design was employed to gather detailed data from employees about their perceptions of organizational culture and its impact on motivation.

Sample Size: Based on Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 380 employees was selected, ensuring robust statistical analysis with a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error.

Case Study: The research focused on the hospitality sector, where organizational culture plays a pivotal role in employee motivation and customer service.

Location: Lagos, a major city with a thriving hospitality industry.

Reliability Coefficient Score: The survey instrument achieved a Cronbach's alpha score of 0.89, indicating high reliability.

Findings: A positive organizational culture, characterized by values such as collaboration, respect, and innovation, was found to significantly enhance employee motivation. Toxic cultures with poor communication and lack of respect were detrimental to motivation.

Recommendation: Hospitality organizations should cultivate a positive organizational culture that promotes collaboration, respect, and innovation to enhance employee motivation and performance.
